(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder for the County of San Mateo, has officially certified the election results for the November 5, 2024 Presidential General Election.
“San Mateo County is pleased to announce the certification of the November 5, 2024 Presidential General Election,” said Church.
Election Overview
“On Election Day, San Mateo County had 443,164 registered voters, with a total voter turnout of 76%, significantly higher than the 40% turnout in the Primary Election,” according to Church.
Of the 337,241 total ballots cast, 297,775 ballots (88%) were Vote by Mail, while 39,466 ballots (12%) were cast at Vote Centers.
“Voters appreciate and made full use of the various voting options available to them under the California Voter’s Choice Act, including Drop Boxes and Curbside Ballot Drop Off at Vote Centers,” noted Church.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the employees and volunteers who contributed to the success of this election, as well as to the 207 students from 26 high schools who participated in the Student Democracy Program. These students played a crucial role on Election Day, offering essential support by assisting voters with curbside ballot drop-offs and managing lines at Vote Centers," added Church.
Election results are certified after completing the Canvass of the Vote within the 30 days following an election. This process includes a One Percent Manual Tally of the votes to ensure the accuracy of the results.
