(Redwood City, CA) A Special Election will be held on March 4, 2025, asking county voters to determine whether or not they are in favor of amending the San Mateo County Charter to grant the Board of Supervisors authority until December 31, 2028 to remove an elected Sheriff for cause.
Individuals interested in filing a primary argument in favor of or against this measure have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, to submit their arguments to the Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo. Proponents/opponents of the measure shall provide a list of supporters/opponents for printing on the official ballot to the Elections Official when submitting primary arguments supporting/opposing the measure. The list of supporters/opponents must be taken from the signer or the text of the argument in favor/in opposition of the measure. Following the close of the primary argument filing period at 5 p.m. on December 10, the 10-calendar-day public review period for primary arguments will open until 5 p.m. on Friday, December 20.
