To ensure the secure and efficient return of election materials to the Registration & Elections Division of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder’s Office after the close of Vote Centers on election night.

Drivers: $100.00 and mileage reimbursement at a rate of $0.70 per mile*

Attendants: $100.00

Training: $25.00

Note: 
Teams working additional assignments will receive $50 per return.
County employees will receive payment through payroll check.

*​Mileage is only reimbursed for travel from voting location to Receiving Station, NOT from or to home/work locations.

• Teams call the Registration & Elections Division on Election Day within an assigned time slot to confirm their attendance that night.
• Teams report to their first assigned location at 7:45 p.m. or earlier.
• Teams lock assigned drop boxes at precisely 8:00 p.m.
• Teams pick up election materials from their voting location.
• Once all assigned materials are collected and/or Drop Boxes are locked, teams deliver everything to an assigned Receiving Station.
• Duration of assignments are estimated to be 3.5 hours.

Couriers are expected to have the ability to:

• Complete an application form and W4
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Wait for Vote Center Representatives to prepare materials
• Behave in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service
• Ensure the secure and efficient return of election materials to their Receiving Station
• Drivers are required to:
  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a valid CA Driver's License and good driving record
  • have a vehicle that locks (no open trucks)

  • have the ability and skill to drive at night

  • have a vehicle that can accommodate a 35.25"H x 22"W ballot box and/or five 29"H x 4"W x 17"L ballot bags
